As we’ve gotten busier throughout the months, I’ve found it harder and harder to find time to sit and write on this blog. Now that the holiday season is approaching quickly, I felt it was time to let people know what we were up to!
The Wedding season is coming to an end. We only have 2 more on the books through October, and then we are chock-full of Halloween parties, Birthday Parties, and then yes, HOLIDAY PARTIES! It seems as if the years just blend together and with so many events each weekend. It’s hard to stop and appreciate all the fun going on! We love being the reason people have a good time at every party and we never want that to stop.
We always give an open invitation to anyone interested in our DJ services. I felt since it’s been almost 2 months since my last posting, I wanted to inform our readers what we’ve been up to recently!
August is known to many as the Dog Days of Summer. That saying takes on a connotation as being lazy, which is definitely not what we’ve been going through. August has been one of our busiest months to date! Of course you have the typical Wedding and Block Party bookings each year around this time, however we’ve been inundated with all types of events:

Backyard Birthday’s
College Events
High School Reunions
Engagements
Teen Nights
and more!
Of course, we’re exceptionally pleased with the amount of people entrusting Ideal Entertainment to handle their party needs, and we hope that it continues right through 2010. If you ever want to look in on an event, just give us a call or shoot us an email and we can easily set it up.
We work extremely hard to make sure each client is handled with the respect and dedication it takes to make an event a huge success. Don’t trust anyone else! We have the music (all genres), the staff (MC’s, DJ’s, Dancers, Breakdancers, etc), the lighting (many packages available), and the experience necessary to bring your party to the next level.
Lastly, don’t trust anyone who quotes a ridiculously low price! That is usually someone younger without experience, or even worse, without INSURANCE! There is a base range that ALL professional DJ companies have in regards to pricing so make sure you know who you book!
Word-of-mouth marketing is crucial to the growth and success of many companies. Ideal Entertainment is no exception. In fact, we’ve made that our #1 goal in growing our business, and the work has been paying off!
Many other DJ companies have to showcase at Bridal Shows or other venues because they have a much higher overhead than we do. They make their business their full-time commitment, therfore money has to be generated using these types of avenues. We’re extremely fortunate not to have to attend these events because we have an EXCELLENT word-of-mouth marketing initiative and our clients are extremely happy with our service.
We have one of the best referral-based businesses on Long Island, and we’re incredibly thankful for every school, family, business, and catering establishment that refers their business to us. We treat each event as if 5 or 6 more will book based on that timeframe. This type of mindset has helped grow Ideal Entertainment to where it is today!
We have the best references on file as well. If you’re planning on having a Bar/Bat Mitzvah, Wedding, Sweet 16, Fire Department Installation, Communion, Prom, or any other event, we have references available that have seen us on these events, that would be more than happy to give us a ringing endorsement!
You cannot underestimate a party nor can you ignore who attends the event. One person at that event could help catapult you into more business, and in turn more money. We’ve thrived under the mantra that “Every Party Produces More Parties”. I’m extremely proud of our staff and how they tackle each event with the professionalism, experience, and motivation we teach them and it’s truly been the foundation for where we are today!

We’ve had many parties that stick out in my mind recently, but this one takes the cake! We had the honor of performing at Monica’s Bat Mitzvah last weekend, and it was SUCH a blast! Every party is different so there is a lot of thought that goes into an event like this. I literally worked back and forth with our client Caroline for weeks leading up to the big day (hey if you’re interested in gift ideas for your guests she is the woman to talk to). All that planning and effort on both ends paid off immensely!
What did she book? Well, it was going to be about 75 kids so we knew we’d need some help. An MC alone with 75 kids would have possibly killed him! She booked 2 male dancers with a DJ (Ronny), MC (me), and our Superior Lighting and Sound Packages. Plus, I ordered about $350 in giveaways so the dance floor would glow with lights. On top of all that, Caroline booked our Karaoke Cocktail for the 1st hour in a separate room. That turned out to be the decision of the event because the guests had a chance to unwind, sing a little bit, and get ready for the Entertainment in the main room. We have a great success with our Karaoke setup so feel free to contact us if you’re interested in booking us!
So, onto the party! The room setup was beautiful. We gathered Monica in the side room for her grand entrance. I brought everyone onto the dance floor to clap along as Monica was escorted in on the shoulders of our dancers. It was a great moment. Then, straight into the Hora, Motzi, and Candlelighting afterwards.
With all the formalities out of the way, it was time to party. The adults ate first so we could hang out with the kids. We did every follow-along imaginable as the dancers did an absolutely phenomenal job on this party. I couldn’t have asked for a better effort from my team. There’s not much more to write about since we literally danced the entire event! That’s what Monica wanted, and that’s exactly what she got! She was a sweet girl, her family is incredibly awesome to deal with (she has 4 more kids who will need to be Mitzvah’d so we’ll absolutely be there) and she had amazing friends. All in all the party absolutely rocked!
So in addition to this post, this is the exact email that was written to me the next day by our client Caroline. She’s a class act and we love our repeat business and referrals from her:
You were SPECTACULAR!!!! I also wanted to thank your hot dancers for making me feel so young and special. I jumped everytime they called me in. I had an absolute blast myself!! I don’t know if my feet are ever going to forgive me!! The party was a complete success because Monica was thrilled and her friends were blown away!!!! She didn’t stop dancing for a second. The karaoke hour worked out fabulously!!!! It started the party rolling!!

What did you do Saturday? Pumpkin picking? Haunted House hunting? Maybe even a football game?
Did you listen to any Underoath in the car? How about sing along to some Silverstein? Dance to some Chiodos? Do these bands sound familiar to you? They weren’t part of our library, so I was unfamiliar with them as well. That, however, is one of the many luxuries of the entertainment business. If you think you know music, you haven’t even touched the surface!
Kids can teach you a lot. I’d say I’m still a big kid, but I listen to music that I grew up with. Bands like: Dave Matthews Band, Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters, and then of course Jay-Z, Notorious BIG, The Roots, Jurassic 5, and Tribe Called Quest. I feel like I have a vast knowledge of music, from 1940 through today’s hottest hits. Gabrielle proved that I knew NOTHING! Her list was one of the most eclectic that I’ve ever received in my 9 years of business. This wasn’t dance music, this was MOSH music! I found afterward that some of it was Christian Rock, but you could have surprised me since it all sounded like screaming! (Just Kidding Gabby)
So what do I do in that situation? Do I play music that I think the kids would dance to or do I trust Gabrielle? One of the main practices we teach at Ideal Entertainment is the relationship and rapport with the client. We want them happy no matter what. So, I talked with her parents, and we all decided that her music is what mattered. I was able to get 98% of the music she wanted, and I was prepared to rock!
Her friends were all about the music! I still was able to fit in party songs that everyone liked. Songs like Paradise by the Dashboard Light, Time Warp, and Sweet Caroline from Angelo Venuto. Many of Gabby’s friends came up to me afterwards and said that I was one of the only DJ’s that would play their music, and they were especially appreciative.
I still am surprised at stories I hear from clients who say that their last DJ just played whatever he wanted, and he didn’t want to play what was requested. There’s no room for ignorance in this industry. I’m more than happy to take requests and music submissions from every client. Why wouldn’t you want to know what will make them happy? If your client is happy, then you’re happy!
We have many parties on the horizon and I’m looking forward to this year’s Holiday Season. We are booking up extremely quickly for the next few months and that always makes me happy. In this economy, I’m just happy that people are still choosing to have parties. They’re an important release from everyday stress and it’s a great way to catch up with friends, family, and loved ones.
